Weeknotes 7

  • I’ve been battling persistent nerve pain in my right wrist this last week, so this will be brief.

  • Watching NASA’s Perseverance rover landing on Mars provided a rare mid-week treat on Thursday evening. The interactive website simulation showing the rover’s "seven minutes of terror" landing at the end of it’s 292 million mile trip felt very familiar, having studied the similarly described descent landing for Curiosity rover at university in 2012. If the sky crane was the "least crazy" idea, I’d love to see what they considered too crazy.

  • I’ve returned to Talon Voice this week for the activities which allow it (writing prose, navigating the OS, simple code editing). After a day of speaking to my computer, my throat hurt. I’m acutely aware of the fact I seem to be falling to pieces. Still, closing vim by saying ‘whale quench’ will never stop being funny.

  • One of my Airpods Pro started making an odd buzzing sound when in Noise Cancellation or Transparency mode. A quick google led me to understand this is a known issue, and Apple Support is sending out neat little boxes to return the single malfunctioning AirPod. I await mine.
